Shine bright like a diamond

Cleaning is part of everyday life, which means everyone cleans at one point or another. But have you ever thought about what separates the truly exceptional cleaners from average ones? We are so lucky to have numerous talented Taskers in the Cleaning category in our network, so we thought we would simply ask them: What makes you stand out?

Continue reading to learn some of the top tips from Cleaning Taskers on how to:

  • Make any space look sparkling clean.
  • Make the most of cleaning products on your tasks.
  • Go above and beyond for clients so that they’ll add you to their task management network and provide frequent tasking opportunities for you.

Go-to products

  • Microfibre cloths reduce streaks when cleaning. Elite Taskers recommend having one microfibre cloth per room to keep bathroom and kitchen separate. They’re also environmentally friendly!
  • Magic erasers are lifesavers for all stubborn stains.
  • Washing up liquid is great for removing soap scum on baths and showers.
  • Spray window cleaner on taps and stainless steel appliances to get them shiny and streak-free.

Clean microwaves in a jiffy

  • To clean stubborn microwave stains, cut a lemon in half, squeeze it into 1/2 a cup of water in a measuring cup or small bowl, put rinds in the water, and microwave it on high for 3 minutes.
  • Let it cool for at least 5 minutes inside the microwave with the door closed, then wipe out the interior.
  • You can dip microfibre or paper towel in the lemon water to remove any stubborn spots.

Rubbish never smelled so sweet

  • Take out the rubbish when you’re wrapping up a cleaning task, and ask your client where to deposit the bag—one quick bin trip can go a long way toward gaining repeat tasks!
  • Spray air freshener in an empty bin bag to help it stay fresher longer.

Don’t forget to…

  • Always do dry before wet—dust and hoover first, then spray and mop.
  • Skirting boards are often overlooked and can make a big difference, so make sure to give them a thorough wipe when doing a deep clean task.
  • For spots of mould, use a bleach pen directly on the mould and tell the client to leave it on for 24 hours before wiping clean.
  • Use a phone timer to keep you on track so you don’t spend too much time on one room, or create a playlist that switches genre every 15 minutes as a more subtle reminder to move on!

Last but not least

  • Don’t forget to upsell! Cleaning tasks are a great opportunity to upsell your client on a deep clean, including offering to come back to take care of:
    • The inside of the fridge.
    • Reorganising the food cupboard.
    • Cleaning the inside of the oven.
    • Dusting ceiling fans.
